India has selected Kiran Rao’s comedy of errors Laapataa Ladies ( Lost Ladies) to represent the country in the 2025 Oscar race in the Best International Feature category.

Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies is India’s official entry for the 2025 Oscars, selected from 29 films by a 13-member committee. The film grossed ₹27.06 crore worldwide and is now streaming on Netflix.

As her film Laapataa Ladies has been chosen as India’s official entry to the Oscars 2025 in the Best Foreign Film Category by the Film Federation of India, filmmaker Kiran Rao expressed her gratitude and said that it was a great privilege to be selected from among such amazing Indian films this year.
