The Kansas plant where the small SUV is built ended production of the Chevrolet Malibu sedan this month ahead of a shift to EV assembly.

General Motors will end production of the Cadillac XT4 in January to free up capacity at the compact crossover's Kansas plant for production of a next-generation Chevrolet Bolt EV, Reuters reported on Thursday, citing comments from the automaker.

XT4 sales are down in 2024 and the SUV lost its base model for 2025.

General Motors said Thursday it will end production of the gas-powered Cadillac XT4 in January as it shifts production at its Kansas plant to electric vehicles. The Detroit automaker is investing $390 million at its Fairfax,

GM is investing $390 million at its Kansas assembly plant to build next-generation Chevrolet Bolt EVs. GM plans to end production of its Chevrolet Malibu in the coming weeks. GM had said in May that when it resumed production in 2025 in Kansas it would build both the Bolt EV and XT4 on the same assembly line but now will only build Bolt vehicles.

Production of the Cadillac XT4 ends in January 2025. Sales are down 11.9% through September. GM initially said it would idle production for several months but has changed its mind. Pour one out for the XT4.
