Elon Musk is suing the FAA over fines he claims are "politically-motivated." The former head of the FAA disagrees.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk accused the FAA of "regulator overreach" and said his aerospace company would sue the federal agency. The FAA had proposed $633,000 against SpaceX.

New court filings revealed that X's headquarters are now in Bastrop, Texas, Forbes reports. Musk originally stated that the company would move from San Francisco to Austin. But now, Musk appears to have instead chosen to make X's home base only about 30 miles east of the tech-dominated city where Tesla's headquarters are located.

On Tuesday, the Federal Aviation Administration levied proposed fines of hundreds of millions of dollars against SpaceX for violations related to rocket launches last year. Soon after, Elon Musk, the billionaire CEO of the commercial rocket and satellite company, threatened legal action to fight the citations.

Elon Musk lashed out at the FAA for “fining SpaceX for trivia” but not taking any action against Boeing “for putting astronauts at risk”.

The agency proposed $633,009 in civil penalties against SpaceX for allegedly failing to follow its license requirements.
